The Automotive Engineering program provides graduates with the knowledge and skills required for engineering in all areas of the automotive sector and related industries. The Automotive Engineering program at UOIT is the only one in Canada. Developed in consultation with industry and experts at other universities, the Automotive Engineering curriculum provides a solid grounding in fundamentals, with significant content in engineering sciences and engineering design. Our Automotive Engineering program has a strong mechanical engineering foundation, and also includes elements of manufacturing and electrical engineering. Since Automotive Engineering is a multidisciplinary field, our program offers an interesting roster of courses from a broad range of areas. In the first year, you study mathematics, sciences, computing and technical communications — courses that represent the foundation building blocks of most engineering programs. In the second year, you cover basic engineering courses like thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, materials properties, electrical circuits, and the mechanics of solids. In third and fourth years, you study a range of applied and advanced automotive engineering courses including vehicle dynamics and control, automotive design, and combustion and engines. In addition, the upper two years cover important courses in mechanical, electrical and manufacturing engineering including computer- aided design, dynamics of machines, mechatronics, control systems and robotics. State- of- the- art laboratories and facilities are being developed to support the program, including laboratories for a wide range of automotive, mechanical and manufacturing technologies. Our 1. 0,0. 00- square- foot Integrated Manufacturing Centre showcases advanced and industrial- scale manufacturing and automation technologies. Complementary studies, including collaborative leadership, economics, and ethics and law for professionals, promote a broader understanding of the needs of society and technology's impact on it.
